..."The birds and the beasts were there...."

I joined a few urban sketchers at the state fair—where I found it hard to focus on drawing, with so much to see.

Hard Road Library

So far, my major Inktober accomplishment has been the (overdue) cleaning and inking of my fountain pens. Drawings are being done with both them and the dip pen, but knowing they will not necessarily be posted gives more freedom to experiment.

This one is from the end of September. The dots in the upper left hand corner came through from the next page, blots from shaking a just-filled pen to get it started.

Plain City Florist
Once upon a time, this corner housed the public library.
There's a slight warp in this Pentallic paper, since the spill, that affects the photos. Wonder if it can be ironed out.

View from parking lot, Hard Road library
Someone had been cutting a tree down. This library is worth a visit to see the life-size storybook art in the children's reading room. It also has a cozy fireplace and a convenient snack area.

Mini-Cooper at the Library
The Mystery section at the local library has been usurped by graphic novels. Mysteries are now mingled with general fiction.

First Day of School

Waiting for the Bus

Church Basement
In memory of Thelma Howdyshell, May 4, 1907 - March 22, 1992. (Mattias Adolfsson Sketchbook Skool assignment: first day of school.)

Note, added later: The public school I attended had an overflow first grade class, housed in the basement of a nearby church.
Further note: Grandpa drove me to school the first day.
